AmSty Sponsors Pacific Northwest Secondary Sorting Demonstration Project

PNWSSDProject thumbThe Woodlands, Texas – June 21, 2019 – AmSty, together with industry partners, has sponsored a 60-day recycling demonstration project managed by the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) known as the Pacific Northwest Secondary Sorting Demonstration Project.  The exercise involves installing a portable secondary sorting system where selected materials from four regional materials recovery facilities (MRFs) will be further sorted.

The recycling demo project will show what additional recyclables could be recovered from materials currently going to landfills, creating new value for the recycling system and new materials for remanufacturing.  The data collected through the course of this project could help inform communities across the U.S. about where to invest in their recovery systems to grow the materials captured from their curbside programs.  The sorting will take place at the Far West Recycling materials recovery facility (MRF), which is being provided by Titus MRF Services in Southeast Portland and will run from July 15 through September 15.
