AmSty Celebrates Responsible Care® Company Certification from ACC

Responsible-Care
The Woodlands, Texas – June 10, 2022AmSty, a leading producer of PolyRenew® polystyrene, has received certification as a Responsible Care® company by the American Chemistry Council (ACC). Responsible Care® is the chemical industry's world-class environmental, health, safety and security performance initiative. It recognizes industry leaders around the world dedicated to ensuring that the business of chemistry is safe, secure and sustainable.

"This is a testament to AmSty's commitment to the highest standards in health and safety performance," said Tim Watson, vice president of AmSty Environment, Health and Safety. "At the heart of our core values are safety, employee focus, environmental responsibility and sustainability, and this certification demonstrates that our leaders truly embrace these values."

Participants in the Responsible Care® program make commitments including abiding by a set of guiding principles that include leading companies in ethical ways to increase benefit to society, the economy and environment, and to design and develop products that can be manufactured, transported, used and disposed of or recycled safely. AmSty joined the ACC, and, in turn, became a part of the Responsible Care® program in the summer of 2018.

In addition, the program includes tracking and transparently reporting company performance on environment, health, safety and security, undergoing third-party audit and certification to Responsible Care® requirements, and implementing the Product Safety, Process Safety and Security Codes.

"We're proud to be recognized as an ACC Responsible Care® member," said Randy Pogue, AmSty president and CEO. "This type of initiative, while it starts at the top, can only be successful with long-term collaboration and commitment from our employees across our locations. We couldn't be prouder of the teamwork required to receive this important certification."

Responsible Care® companies have an impressive track record: a worker safety rate nearly five times better than the U.S. manufacturing sector as a whole and almost three times better than the business of chemistry overall. Member companies also have reduced sulfur oxide emissions 75 percent and nitrogen oxides by 41 percent since 2010.
