AmSty Complies with the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010

AmSty supports the goals of the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act and strives to be an example of good human rights and labor practices throughout our business activities. We provide our vendors with a copy of our Human Trafficking Prevention Standard, and we expect them to comply with its requirements. Our supply chain vendors are predominantly located in North and South America, but we hold our vendors all over the world to the same Standard.

AmSty takes the following actions to ensure that our vendors comply with our Human Trafficking Prevention Standard:

Verification - AmSty verifies product supply chains to evaluate and address risks of human trafficking and slavery.

AmSty is a leading integrated producer of polystyrene and styrene monomer, serving customers in a variety of markets throughout the Americas. Our supply chain consists of large scale procurement of feedstocks and other materials associated with polystyrene and styrene monomer production (e.g., primarily natural gas, ethylene, benzene, synthetic mineral oil, and polybutadiene rubber). We hold all of our feedstock producers to strict quality specifications.

All AmSty suppliers are subject to an initial internal assessment to identify legal compliance risks, including those relating to human trafficking and slavery. AmSty’s suppliers are required to maintain compliance with all applicable laws and regulations from any governmental authorities having jurisdiction over the supplier or AmSty.

Audits - AmSty audits select suppliers to evaluate supplier compliance with AmSty’s Human Trafficking Prevention Standard.

Certification - AmSty will require direct suppliers to certify that materials incorporated into AmSty products comply with the laws regarding slavery and human trafficking of the country or countries in which they are doing business.

AmSty’s commercial transactions are conducted according to written documents that require adherence to all applicable laws and regulations, including those relating to human trafficking and slavery.

Accountability - AmSty will maintain internal accountability standards and procedures for employees or contractors failing to meet company standards regarding slavery and trafficking.

AmSty maintains a Code of Conduct that directs employees “to be lawful, highly principled and socially responsible” in all of AmSty’s business practices. All AmSty employees receive periodic training on the Code of Conduct. Violations are subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination. AmSty also maintains an anonymous hotline where ethics violations or other concerns can be reported 24 hours a day, seven days a week in English, Spanish or Portuguese.

Suppliers and contractors are expected to embrace similar values and standards, as stated in AmSty’s Human Trafficking Prevention Standard.

Training - AmSty provides training on human trafficking and slavery to company employees and management who have direct responsibility for supply chain management and purchasing, particularly with respect to mitigating risks within the supply chains of products.
