The Woodlands, Texas â April 20, 2020
â Last fall a collaborative group of government and industry packaging leaders, led by the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS), released results from a 60-day pilot project, the Pacific Northwest Secondary Sorting Demonstration #PNWSort. With all the other news around public health, it might be easy to overlook the great news for the future of collection, sorting, and recycling. The study found that over 100 million pounds of waste could be diverted from local landfills, just by adding a single secondary sorting facility in the Pacific Northwest. That number could continue to increase with the addition of proposed facilities on the west coast.
