Ohio Chemistry Technology Council Recognizes AmSty for Exceptional Safety and Environmental Performance
The Woodlands, Texas – June 3, 2015 – The Ohio Chemistry Technology Council (OCTC) has recognized AmSty's Hanging Rock plant for excellent performance in environmental, health, safety and security at the organization’s annual Awards for Excellence ceremony. The OCTC is the state’s most influential supporter of Ohio’s chemical industry, which is one of the largest chemical manufacturing states in the U.S.
According to the Council’s website, “The Awards for Excellence are presented to companies that have shown commitment to the protection of people and the environment, safety at its facilities and effective communications with the public...”
AmSty has committed significant capital resources to its Hanging Rock facility to improve operations and work processes, and reduce energy consumption. The plant has also participated in the local TIE Teacher’s conference, and the United Way of River Cities fundraising efforts. The Hanging Rock facility has been heralded as a good neighbor by its local community.
“The OCTC is a well-respected organization, and we’re proud to receive such recognition from them,” said Plant Manager Carl Darling. “Our team is continually mindful of the impact our safe operations, and local involvement have on the Hanging Rock community. We strive to be excellent stewards of our resources and our people.”
AmSty has received a number of other safety awards as well. The company awarded the OSHA Star of Excellence and was named Best in Louisiana for three consecutive years (2012-2014) by the Louisiana Chemical Association for safety performance at its St. James Styrene Monomer Plant.
